Large orange alabaster bowl by Rick Amon, expertly turned on a lathe, and accompanied by a orange alabaster base which enhances the workmanship of the bowl. Orange alabaster is among the rarest alabaster in the world. The alabaster for this piece was mined in Utah. Rick carries on an ancient tradition of stone turning that started in 4000 BC with the Egyptians. Over time it became less prevalent, although it had a brief resurgence in the 1800s in Italy. Light a candle inside this statement piece, and it will glow with a soft translucence. A perfect focal point for meditation, or simply as an accent piece to nurture peace, mindfulness and self care.
