Unframed Drypoint Print titled “Along the Edge of Acadia”. Comes with a foamcore backing.
This print is made with drypoint and monotype techniques. A drypoint is part of the intaglio family in printmaking where the image is incised into a plate with a hard pointed needle. When printing the plate, ink is pushed into the grooves created and the surface ink is then wiped away to reveal the image. As the plate goes through a printing press with dampened paper on top of the plate, the pressure of the press pushes the paper into the grooves on the plate and transfers the image to the paper. A monotype background layer is then added by rolling ink onto a plexiglass printing matrix and using stencils to block off negative space. It is then printed onto the drypoint print via a second run through the press.
Measures approximately 14 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
