My work begins with an observation, experience or object that I stumble upon. I'm inspired by art and design that came before me and use this as a reference point in much of my work adding a contemporary twist. I make collages with hand dyed cottons, vintage fabrics and sometimes paper elements that incorporate traditional and modern quilting techniques. I think that viewers respond to my work because it depicts the familiar in an unusual medium.

Using cotton batiks, some hand-dyed, and topstitching, this artists calls on her watercolor background to create a familiar object …in an unusual medium. This piece is ready to hang.
