Wandering my grandfather’s workshop as a boy I found myself most fascinated by the lathe. It only took me thirty years to yield to what has been an ineluctable attraction to the lathe but also to the endless visual and tactile variety of wood. I come to this after a career in veterinary medicine and as such I have come to recognize good medicine. Working wood on the lathe has become a wonderful therapy–exercising the undiscovered creative parts of my brain. The fact that people seem to appreciate the results is a lovely side-effect.
