As a child growing up near a rice farm in Taiwan, I was obsessed with making objects from clay and drying them in the sun. This passion led me to switch my career to ceramics after working 30 years as a Technical Designer in the fashion industry.
My studio practice derives from my Buddhist training in meditation. The process of making my work allows me to regain the sense of timelessness that I achieved through meditation. Timelessness provides me freedom from distracting thoughts and gives me unlimited inspirational ideas for my ceramic works. This means my work is continuously changing in form, adornment, and firing technique. Such freedom makes my studio practice enlightening and fun.
