A hand knitter for many years, I read knitting books and magazines, study illustrations and techniques that I find in them, and knit samples using different yarns and stitches to see how various fibers pair with various stitch patterns. Most recently, drawing on a variety of knitting traditions and techniques, I have focused on creating fun, functional and attractive baby and children’s hats. Knit and purl spirals, gansey diamonds, lace motifs, knit stripes and pinwheels, and interesting plain-knit colorways, make easy to wear, easy to care for, warm and eye catching wool hats. I enjoy using the winter hats I design as miniature palettes on which to work.
