Rick pursued his formal education in the arts receiving a BA in Studio Art and Art History from Elmira College. Rick worked as a potter for established NH studios. Establishing Rising Moon Pottery in Warner, NH he successfully marketed through juried craft fairs and the League. In 2000 Rick accepted a teaching position at New Hampton School teaching ceramics: for 7 years. During his tenure he began metalsmithing once again, a pursuit that has captured his imagination, time and interest since. In 2007 Rick relocated to southern NM and established a metalsmithing studio. Elkin Studio Jewelers has received 13 Best in Show Awards in the Southwest in 7 years.
