Working with stone since the early 1990’s, I have always been intrigued with a stone’s shape, texture and color. Like wood, when stone is polished and oiled, the color pops into amazing hues. When I attended my wife’s first quilt show, in 1999, I met a wood turning vendor. After a long talk with him and buying a few of his turnings, I told my wife that I wanted to turn wood when I retired. After a 30 year hiatus in the corporate world, I did just that and became self taught. At one of my shows, many years later, a potential customer challenged me to turn a stone bowl. I spent the next few months doing historical research on stone vessels and the rest is history. Enjoy my turnings!!
