I grew up in a house filled with wonderful art. My mother was a collector a lot of which was ceramic. At age 9 she enrolled me in classes with the late great ceramic artist Lois Eldridge. I was instantly hooked.
Over the years I’ve had many fine teachers and mentors who’ve given me great instruction and encouragement.
I hand build my work using slab, coil, and pinch pot methods. I add texture with stamps and objects ranging from the soles of sneakers to doilies. I paint underglaze then clear glaze over resulting in bright, fun colors.
The first thing I made in Lois’ class was a beaver and today animals [both real and imagined] are my subject of choice.
