Ken Kantro

Juried Member Since 1984

Ken Kantro has been an artisan for over forty years. In the 1970’s his interest in Asian art led him to a pottery apprenticeship utilizing traditional Japanese techniques. Working with combinations of clay and metal, he was fascinated by the light reflecting qualities of metal and its creative potential. He went on to study and master the techniques of early American pewter design and fabrication. For the past 30+ years he has designed a popular collection of nature inspired jewelry and ornaments under the name Lovell Designs. He has received commissions from a large number of museums including the National Holocaust Museum. His work has also been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution.

Ken Kantro is the maker of the 2020 Annual Ornament ‘Midnight Clear’.
