Julia originates from Virginia where she received her B.F.A. in Crafts from V.C.U. She apprenticed in two stained glass studios. One focused on lamp making the other on panels. In 2004 Julia moved to Vermont. This led to a transition from intricate bird and large detailed Georgia O’Keefe styled flower panels to abstractions of nature in her lamps and panels. The warm colors of New England fall, misty mornings and rich blue skies over lakes and oceans are portrayed. These may take a straight lined form or balance flowing lines intersecting with linear elements often finding their way out of the edges adding movement and a sculptural element to what is traditionally known as “flat glass”.
