I’ve been practicing fine art photography for 40 years, with most of my work inspired by a long term intimate relationship with the land of New Hampshire and Vermont. I do my own printing: work ranging from black and white prints from large format film scans, through digital exposures in black and white, color, and infrared. I print on a variety of papers to suit the intent of the print.I don’t think of my work as an intent to “capture” a subject; instead I use form, tone, texture and often color to create a world that lives on the paper in a print with a life of its own, a life created by the participation of the viewer. The power and magic of photography is based on a solid connection to a real moment and place, but then the photograph moves one beyond time and physical space.
