Iris Minc

Juried Member Since 1996

Iris Minc fell in love with clay while she was an art major at Michigan State University. Now 30 years later she is still in love with clay. Having worked as a production potter for the past 25 years she has gained some knowledge about firing a gas kiln, how clay works, and how the balance between foot and lip and belly and spout and handle affect the beauty and function of a pot. Though she still enjoys making functional pots, lately she has been drawn to allowing the organic quality of clay to emerge in vase and leaf forms that are a cross between the functional and sculptural. Iris’ bright and spacious studio with retail gallery is in an old carriage factory building in Merrimac, MA. She offers pottery classes at her studio as well as studio space to part time potters.
