I first picked up a jeweler’s saw in 1970 to make a copper head gasket for my motorcycle. In 1971 at a craft fair selling our handmade candles with my wife, Donna, I met Del Schuler who was using a jeweler’s saw to create jewelry from pre-1965 90% US silver coins. Del became a good friend and mentor and taught me how wield the jeweler’s saw and to make jewelry with it. The rest is history and practice! Our first League fair was 1977. Jim flattens the old coins with a rolling mill and then we create our designs which are hand pierced with the jewelers saw one at a time. We can do customers’ requested designs on our coins or yours! And “Yes, it’s legal”!
