I have spent my life working with my hands. There is something spiritual and precious about handmade objects. They connect us to the past, tradition, and passion of the maker, a passion I think we all feel and crave to be part of. I had taken a little hiatus while I was teaching but I have been back for the last 5-6 years and could not be happier about that. I had become interested in wood firing in school for its rich interactive surfaces and the connections the process offers to our history. My present work is not what most would call traditional. It explores the interface of past and present through surface, color, and design layered with historical and traditional processes.
