I have a soft heart. I grew up in the woods by the sea. I know the natural world to be a healer of the heart in so many ways. Now, I worry. As an artist, my goal is to help in the effort to direct human attention towards the care of all living things.
I see that for humans, hurt leads to more hurt. But once healed, injury transforms into power. I make work that is an invitation to empowerment. If these objects could talk, they would say, “grow quiet, look below the surface, know the worthwhile person that you are, though perhaps imperfect, though perhaps broken. When you are ready, go out into the world with love, and do your best work on behalf of all living things.
