“Kearsarge From Eagle Pond” Woodblock Print

A beautiful woodblock print of New Hampshire  by Matthew Brown, using the Japanese hanga method.  Hanga is a color woodblock printing technique using multiple blocks, water, pigments, and rice paste, the same technique used to make the ukiyo-e and shin hanga prints of Japan.  Each color you see here was printed from a separate block of wood carved specifically for each color.  The blocks are each inked, carefully lined up, and pressed onto the paper by hand with a baren, overlaying the colors to create his soft but dramatic scenes.  Each print is one of a limited edition of 300 prints, and is signed, numbered, titled and dated at the bottom.  Please note that these prints are made by hand and there may be some slight color variations to the image shown. Framed prints have with UV-70 non-glare glass.  Unframed prints come matted in a plastic sleeve.  Shipped directly from the artist’s studio in about a weeks time.
