Tall wheel thrown mugs with a beautiful celadon glaze by Andy Hampton. Celadon is a traditional Japanese glaze with a soft satin finish that ranges in color from white to blue, green, or yellow. Fired on a white stoneware clay, this particular celadon develops some beautiful crazing, further enhancing it’s gentle nuance. The location within the kiln during the firing and proximity to the burner flames partially determines if the glaze is tinted more cool/blue or warm/grey in color. Some of them have both qualities from front to back. (If you have a preference, please make note on your order and we’ll try to accommodate.) These lovely mugs are lightweight and comfortable to hold in the hand. Quiet in nature, with good functionality, and a strong Japanese aesthetic, Andy’s pottery reminds us to mindfully enjoy the simple things in life. Microwave and dishwasher friendly.
