Bob Englund became serious as a woodturner in 2002 when he transitioned from full-time to half-time work as a physician in Keene. Now, working quarter time, he is at the point where he spends more time in his workshop than in his office! He makes lamps from wood carefully selected from his pile of cordwood; he also turns natural edge bowls and hollow vessels. He designs the lamps so that bark and the split surfaces from the woodsplitter are included are included in the base. Similarly he often includes the interface between the heartwood and sapwood as well as unique grain patterns and bark inclusions. He has donated many items to the auctions of non-profit organizations.
