Large, oval, turned-wood ash salad bowl by Steven Frye, with the squiggly markings of an ash borer on the rim as he made his way around the tree, just under the bark. Oval turned wood is especially difficult and dangerous to make, as the uneven wood whips around to meet the wood-turning tools on the lathe. Sealed and waxed to a durable finish, this bowl makes a beautiful functional or decorative piece of turned wood.
