Like floating lights dancing on the waves, John Drost’s dancing lanterns rock gently on their round bottoms and create a warm relaxing ambiance in any room. John Drost’s work is often influenced by the calabash form, with rounded bottoms and organic shapes. He likes to keep each piece simple with clean lines, no embellishments, and strives to let the attributes of the wood and the form speak for itself. This lamp was made from a big leaf maple burl. A burl is a growth or “tumor” on a tree, that juts out in an organic shape under the bark. Sought after by woodworkers for its dramatic figuring, burls often reveal large eyes, extremely unique spiraling patterns, and tiny dancing twirls in various colors within the cut. These lanterns come with high quality Firefly glass inserts and wicks, a funnel for easy refilling, and care instructions. Firefly paraffin lamp oil burns very cleanly and produce virtually no soot, smoke or odor. To purchase and learn more about Firefly lamp oils, please visit www.FireflyFuel.com
