Beautiful, hand-thrown and altered oval stoneware casserole by Irina Okula, in a rich tenmoku glaze, and an embossed blue interior. Tenmoku is a traditional Japanese glaze with a semi-gloss finish that ranges in color from brown to black. One of the great things about Irina’s pottery is that she leaves evidence of the maker, with thumb prints and glazing variations showing her process. Her work is always creative and diverse, as experimentation and taking risk plays an important part in her creative process. This one-of-a-kind casserole dish also functions beautifully as a covered jar for storage.
