Medium sized sphere that is both functional and artistic. The artist, Lars Turin, made this wheel-thrown sphere using his unique technique of crusting the surface of soft clay with sodium silicate and a torch, and then stretching the still-soft clay to create controlled surface cracking. He then enhances the cracking with various colors and removes it from the smooth, white clay surface to create a dramatic contrast. This particular piece has red and black cracks and the interior is finished with a smooth black glaze. Signed by the artist.
