Inspired by cave paintings and Ice Age art found throughout Europe, Asia and North Africa from over 30,000 years ago, Luann Udell creates imagined artifacts from polymer clay. Each artifact is created one at a time with very thin layers of polymer clay to recreate the rich grain of old ivory, bone, or stone. This fish sculpture is a light wheat color with delicate black markings, including a compelling handprint. Mounted on a black steel stand it looks very much like a bone carving.
“Although we may not know the exact meaning or message of the artifact, the power and mystery of each artifact creates profound echoes in our hearts.” -Luanne Udell
