Elegant and one of a kind, this sterling silver necklace by Tom Burns features a beautiful purple bezel-set paua shell that shines like an amethyst. Paua shell comes from the abalone family of Haliotidae in New Zealand. When harvested, they are coated with a thick layer of marine growth and lime. When removed, they reveal beautiful colors and patterns hiding beneath. It is believed that all varieties of abalone (including paua) strengthen the body as well as the heart. They are believed to bring sensitivity, harmony, and connectivity in relationships. Each of Tom’s designs are completely custom to enhance the beauty of the stone. Signed by the artist. Comes on an 16″ sterling chain.
