Green plique-à-jour earrings by enamel jewelry artist, Lynn Adams. These primarily green earrings are the color of a meadow in spring, with hints red and yellow lightly speckled throughout like wildflowers. Luminous and transparent, like miniature stained-glass windows, they shine with colored glass through the center of the bright sterling silver. French for “letting in daylight,” plique-à-jour is a technically challenging enameling technique, in which the enamel is applied in cells with no backing on the final product, so light can shine through the translucent glass enamel. Hanging from securely soldered sterling silver earwires, these colorful and elegant earrings are a wearable piece of art.
