“Rich Textures- Gorgeous Gems!” Barbara has been blessed with “intense color awareness,” allowing her to create wearable art. McLaughlin uses traditional metalsmithing techniques to hand-fabricate each piece, some include forging, stamping, and the reticulation of silver, another attribute of her work is the contrast of metals. Barbara McLaughlin is a self-taught metalsmith with a thirst for knowledge. Armed with her MBA from Sacred Heart University, books became her friend. Experimentation in the studio was substituted for formal training, allowing her to explore techniques freely. "Diversity” won Best in Jewelry with Stone at the Craftsmen's Fair Craft Wear Exhibit 2013
