A New England native, Karen Mitchell first studied studio art at Colby College and the University of Maine at Orono, focusing on printmaking, etching and block prints. A juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen since 1991, Karen designs her “pierced” silver pieces much the way she designed block prints: by removing shadows with her saw blade and leaving the light. The eye fills in the details of her graceful, contemporary renderings of animals, birds, and natural textures. Karen lives in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire and is an active member of the Mont Vernon Artisans. Her work can be found in several fine craft shops and shows around New England.
