Workshops at the Virtual Fair

Clay Project with Sarah Burns

Description: Sarah shows how to build a 3-dimensional animal with clay using the pinching and coil method. No extra tools are needed, but there are a few household tools you can use: a toothpick, bamboo skewer, pencil, wooden stirring stick, shells can be fun and buttons for designing. Grab your own bag of play clay at any of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Galleries during the hours they are open:

Print Making with Bill Mitchell

Description: Printing with foam block prints

Audience: All ages

Materials (Can be purchased from blick.com or Michaels)

  • 4-inch Speedball Hard or soft Rubber Brayer starting at 7.50
  • speedball waterbased block printing ink starting at 4.50 for a small tube
  • foam grocery store vegetable tray or a similar flat piece of foam to use as a block
  • heavy drawing or copy paper for printing
  • watercolors, colored pencils
  • variety of ballpoint pens to ‘carve’ into the block surface.
  • a flat pan or tray for rolling out ink

Paper Airplane Challenge! with Deb Fairchild

Description: This workshop will share several patterns for folding planes and identify the features that allow paper planes to fly. We also invite you to take the Paper Airplane Challenge! Watch the instructional video, design your plane(s), and practice flying them.
Please note if you watch through to the end there is a second video with a third airplane model.

Audience: All ages

Materials:

  • Recycled paper about 8 ½ “ x 11 “ (such as magazine, wrapping paper, or junk mail)
  • Scissors
  • White glue or glue stick;
  • Waxed paper

Wood Finishing Project with Art Anderson

Description: Sand and paint a wooden figure – use your imagination and create a piece that shows your personality! Pre-cut bunny, dinosaur, and car shapes are available at our League Fine Craft Galleries during the hours they are open:

Description: Learn how to make your own beads. We will look at examples of how people around the world use paper beads. Watch the video, design your own beads, and take the Paper Beads Challenge!
