Exhibition Description:
Materials to Masterpiece invites visitors to explore the journey of traditional craft, from humble raw materials to refined works of art. The exhibition reveals the transformation of natural resources by the hands of master craftsmen. Unfinished pieces will be featured alongside finished work to illuminate the process, skill, artistry, and vision behind each creation. The League will showcase collaborations with traditional craft education programs in New Hampshire as a part of this exhibition.
Guidelines:
Participants must be current juried members of the League of NH Craftsmen. Work provided for the exhibition may not have been shown at League Headquarters in the past three years. Work that is available for sale is encouraged. NFS items may be provided.
Due to the special theme of this exhibition, participants will be asked to provide:
- A display of materials used to create their work (“raw” materials and tools)
- “Touchable” materials are encouraged as a part of the display
- Example of work in progress (unfinished)
- Up to two finished pieces
- Process and “artist in the studio” images to be used in the installation
Participants will agree to the League’s exhibition consignment structure:
The League will keep 40% of retail on items priced up to $999; 30% on items priced between $1,000 and $2,999 and 20% on items priced $3,000 and up.
The League wishes to showcase the following media areas:
- Basketry
- Clay
- Fiber (areas may include rug hooking and weaving, wet felting, stitchery)
- Glass
- Leather
- Metal
- Photography (traditional darkroom and alternative photography)
- Printmaking
- Wood
The League will be limiting participation to ensure the inclusion of numerous media areas, with educational materials, tools and photographs to educate guests on craft processes.
Submission Deadline for promotional images and participation:
February 9, 2026
The League is producing a postcard, poster and numerous online assets to promote this exhibition. To assist us in our work, we encourage you to provide high-quality, high-resolution images that may be used in these efforts. As this exhibition also includes process images within the installation, we do need all participants finalized by this deadline to allow us to produce these materials in coordination with the artists.
