Tarja Cockell

A native of Finland, Tarja Cockell has a degree in textile and design majoring in weaving. Her fiber art explores traditional textile techniques with a contemporary twist. Fascination with colors, textures and simplified designs reflects her work. Experimenting is part of the challenge and lately she has been weaving with paper and coated copper. She uses mixed methods, like dyeing, painting, sewing and weaving to create her wall pieces and functional accessories for home and personal use.
Her studio is in the artist community at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA. Studios are open for public first Saturday of the month or by appointment.
