Leaf patterns, geological striations, wood grain and flowing ripples of water are all part of the environment I live and work in. By carving and faceting layered colored clay I express this imagery combined with the rhythms and textures of movement. After earning a degree in ceramics, I co-founded in 1983 the Brattleboro Clayworks, a potters collective in Brattleboro, Vt. Since then, I have been offering a line of colored clay items. In 2004 I set up my own studio in my home. Since 1998 I have been the ceramics teacher at The Putney School, teaching a variety of hand-building and wheel-throwing methods. I also share my enthusiasm for colored clay through teaching workshops
