James Cusmano is a dedicated Monadnock Region artist. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and lives in Peterborough with his wife Christine. Jim participated in the Monadnock Open Studios Tour last year and will do so again in 2026. He and Christine owned a successful art gallery for 10 years.
His inspiration comes from Nature. All his paintings are unique compositions created by applying transparent French Dyes to White China Silk. The silk is stretched on a rigid frame. Various resists and holding techniques are used to manage the “Flow” of dye across the silk fabric. Finished paintings are steamed to permanently set the colors and are re-stretched for presentation.
