One of the foster homes I grew up in, an old farm, had a very long stone wall that I would often run atop of when I couldn’t make sense of the world; each foot quickly finding the next stepping stone leading to the upper pasture. In the center of the grassy field lived an oasis of trees, my sanctuary, where I would find solace among dappled sunlight and birdsong. The purpose of my work in the Stillwater Collection is to share and depict the quiet peacefulness I experienced within my sacred bower in the woods. Each piece I make is a small sanctuary, a quiet place to visit and affirm that the true nature of the world is miraculously interconnected.
