Donna Townshend Wilson

Juried Member Since 2008

Donna Wilson has been knitting since she was a young girl. Her grandmother taught her mother, her mother taught Donna, and Donna has taught her own daughters and sons. Each spring, Donna sorts through the fleeces from her flock and selects the finest to be taken to Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney, VT, where it is blended with mohair and spun into skeins of light gray or white yarn. Donna dyes the yarn a few skeins at a time, steaming up the kitchen of the farmhouse (and occasionally decorating the walls with a few colorful splatters). After she has finished knitting each unique hat, the final step is to felt it with multiple washings in hot water, then shape and dry it on a flat surface.
