David Maine

Juried Member Since 2011

David has always had a love of wood and the beauty that nature conceals under its’ bark. He works
mostly with highly figured woods with colorful and decorative grain. Most of his wood comes from very
large dying or dead trees that are taken down for safety reasons and not good for lumber or firewood.
Most are headed for the landfill.

He has the ability to mill the logs himself on the premises so he can get the most beautiful pieces of very
colorful wood for his platters, cutting boards and charcuterie boards.

He gets a lot of very large Sugar Maples that are 200+ years old, along with many other native species
like Cherry, Beech, Elm and Red and White Maples.

Each piece is finished with Walnut oil and gets waxed with a combination of bees’ wax and Walnut oil.
They are all food safe (but not dishwasher safe). Each board is an original piece signed by David.
