The work I do is called Sloyd, meaning handicraft or handiwork. Slyod is traditionally Swedish/Scandinavian, so I tend to create more traditional designs. I also design my pieces using nature, letting a crooked branch or log guide my tool and tell me what it wants to become. My dad taught me most of what I know years ago and since we came to New Hampshire 2 years ago I have delved back into the world of greenwood carving and have enjoyed it more than I could imagine. It is not only a joyful hobby but a way to ground and center myself in this chaotic world we live in.
