I have moved my textile practice from clothing the body ( Red Rover Clothing Co.) to decorating the wall. My design space is a large 9’x20′ blank wall I can stick fabric shapes up on as I work. It is a canvas for my improvisational ” art quilts”. The process is viceral and tactile. Layering colors, shapes and stitching marks, I consider the pieces collage with fabrics. I am also learning structural techniques as I progress with this new phase of work. I’m never quite sure where I will start or end, but eventually a compositon makes me happy. I am a graduate of RISD. BFA Textiles. |
