Al Jaeger creates and wood fires his stoneware and porcelain sculptures for walls, tables and pedestals at his studio in Deerfield, NH. Sand, gravel and other local materials are incorporated into the clays causing lumps, pits, cracks and warts. The pieces are strong yet whimsical with character reflecting many decades of thoughtful involvement in these materials and techniques.
The works are shown widely in New England and are in the collections of the Currier Museum of Art, various corporate headquarters and law firms, and private homes.
In 1994 Al created the BFA Program in Ceramics at the NH Institute of Art and directed it for several years. He has juried clay for the League of NH Craftsmen for more than thirty years and presently serves on the Standards Committee.
