Working with fiber passion is a of mine. A grant through the Traditional Arts Program, I was an apprentice to Ann Winterling for many years. My career as a wildlife biologist has allowed me to incorporate my love on nature in my craft. Through eco-dyeing and hand-dying the fiber I can mimic the subtle tones of nature. Eco-dying The includes selecting leaves and flowers to be imprinted on the fiber as they are boiled in a dye bath using a variety of mordants. I am also a nuno-felter, a technique of combining wool and silk to create one beautiful fabric. This technique can be used for items to wear or to create works of art for the home.
