I have been dyeing yarn and weaving cloth since 1975. You’ve heard of Slow Food. I make Slow Art. In this technological age of non-stop multitasking, everything I do takes a ridiculous amount of time. Mordanting and painting yarn with natural dyes, weaving cloth from lustrous silks and other natural fibers, finishing scarves with long tails of finely twisted fringe — it is all my way of taking a stand against the encroaching sameness of the marketplace. I teach, travel, create, study and collect textiles. My work connects me to textile artisans reaching back through history and working today all over the world. Come visit my studio school in Center Harbor, NH.
