Events > Reception for League Permanent Collection Exhibition

Event Description:

The Exhibition is open to guests during League HQ office hours, Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Begun with donations from League master craftsman Edwin Scheier in the 1960’s, the Permanent Collection of the League of NH Craftsmen has grown over the years to include more than four hundred examples of both traditional and contemporary craft in a wide range of media areas.

The League’s Exhibition Gallery and Museum Committee spent the past year carefully examining all of the pieces in the Permanent Collection. They identified the need for repairs or cleaning, and reviewed catalog records for completeness. This was a lengthy and exacting project, and the League is incredibly grateful to the committee for completing this extraordinary task. This installation of selected works from the Permanent Collection provides us with a glimpse into the evolution of craft since the League’s beginnings, and the exceptional work that is included in our holdings.

The Headquarters Gallery was refurbished in the fall of 2023 with new paint and lighting, to enhance all exhibitions that will be staged here. It is exciting to see the space utilized to tell the stories of current and past juried members from the League’s more than ninety-year history. If you haven’t visited since the renovation, we invite you to come in and see the changes that have been made.

To honor the committee’s tireless work to conserve and document the work of League makers from our early days to the present, and to celebrate this revitalized space, a reception will be held on March 8th from 5-7 pm to celebrate our volunteers, and the League’s ongoing commitment to the makers of fine craft. We hope you will join us!

The Exhibition is open to guests during League HQ office hours, Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
