Event Description:
Join us at the League of NH Craftsmen – Center Sandwich Fine Craft Gallery on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 from 9:00am – 3:30pm for an Introduction to Spinning Yarns Class with Cathy Crooker.
Throughout most of human history, we relied on the skills of a handful of talented spinners to make every thread for every piece of clothing, every flour sack, and every sail on every ship. Spinning fibers into thread or yarn is one of the oldest human skills.Today, we practice hand spinning for the joy it brings us through creating something beautiful and valuable, through the fun of playing with various textures and colors. By the end of the day, you will go home with your first handspun yarn and be on your way to years of spinning enjoyment! By the end of the day, you will have learned how to set up and manage your wheel, learned the basics of fiber prep and selection, learned how to spin a single yarn, learned how to ply two singles to make a finished yarn, and practiced fiber blending on a drum carder.
Tuition is $50.00 per student, plus a $15 materials fee to be paid to the instructor. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Registration form and full tuition payment must be received at least 1 week prior to the class to ensure your place. Failure to make full payment may result in the loss of your space in the class.
