Event Description:
Join us at the League of NH Craftsmen – Center Sandwich Fine Craft Gallery on Friday, June 13th & Saturday June 14th, 2025 from 9:00am – 4:00pm for an An Introduction to Shibori and Dyeing with Natural Indigo Workshop with Sara Goodman.
This two-day class is a wonderful introduction to the magical experience of working with indigo — a dye unlike all the others. On Day 1 we will make an indigo vat using indigo extract powder, ferrous sulfate, and slaked lime (calcium hydroxide.)
Skills + Techniques:
Learn how to make an indigo iron vat with powdered indigo extract, ferrous sulfate, and slaked lime
Learn how to use and maintain the vat over time.
Learn some basic shibori techniques: stitched and fold & clamp.
Dye 3 cotton bandanas
Over-dye one piece of natural fiber clothing brought from home.
Learn how to finish and wash the dyed cloth.
Tuition is $125.00 per student, plus a $30 materials fee to be paid to the instructor. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Registration form and full tuition payment must be received at least 1 week prior to the class to ensure your place. Failure to make full payment may result in the loss of your space in the class.
